Fund handling
Exchange funds are held only in FDIC-insured, fully liquid individual qualified escrow accounts and are never commingled with operating accounts. Fund movement requires dual authorization from both JTC and the exchanger. JTC says it undergoes an annual SOC 1 Type 2 audit.
Who it is for
Institutional and sponsor-heavy book: DST in-and-out exchanges, reverse, multi-property, state-to-state, and foreign exchanges, plus JTC’s separate DST fund-administration line. Formerly NES Financial; rebranded to JTC Americas after JTC’s U.S. integration.
Verdict
JTC is a fund-admin platform that also is a QI — useful if your replacement is a DST the same shop administers, and a conflict to map if you care about independent custody. The published wire rule (QI plus exchanger) and individual qualified escrow are the right shape. Unpublished bond limits and no explicit ‘we are an FEA member firm’ sentence on the cited pages are the gaps. Nicole Vella, CES®, is named on JTC’s own CES article. Confirm the legal QI entity on the exchange agreement; ‘JTC Americas’ is a banner, not automatically the contracting party.
Notes
NES Financial completed its integration under JTC and launched the JTC Americas banner. The 1031 practice is the former NES QI line: qualified escrow, dual authorization, and a stated specialty in DST sponsor flows.
JTC writes at length about FEA’s CES® program and employs at least one CES®. That is not the same as a sourced sentence that the QI entity is a Regular Member on 1031.org, so FEA membership is marked unknown.
